To quote Joe Esposito this wordpress site is “the best around”. This website is regarded as on of the best sites created with wordpress. I love the design, it’s simple yet sophisticated. I think that I’ll use this site to generate design ideas for my personal portfolio. Theo Ribeiro is a photographer and a damn good one to. His front page is very simple, the header is his name and right below that is a active gallery of his work. At the bottom of the page he gives a little background to himself. The links to his other pages are located at the top of the screen. They link you to more examples of his work, archives of his work, his blog, his current projects and an about page. Theo’s page is visually appealing and easily navigated. It’s everything a good portfolio website should be. Congratulations Theo, “You’re the best around, no one’s ever gonna bring you down.” See Theo’s site here.
Location Scout #3 WWII Bunker
•June 14, 2010 • Leave a CommentHere is a cool WWII bunker located north of Montara CA on Devil’s Slide. Be sure to have someone drop you and the equipment off and make it a covert operation. There is no parking on the side of the road and no cell reception so this is one for walkie-talkies, if you do park there you better keep watch for cops and the construction workers building the tunnel across the street.
Artist of the Week: The Rehab
•June 14, 2010 • Leave a CommentO.K so it’s not a single person this time but I couldn’t help myself. The Rehab specialize in creative video production and do an amazing job at it. “Whether producing big-budget network TV commercials or guerilla viral videos, Rehab’s work is exceptionally produced, often unexpected and always entertaining.” Check out there work here. I was just given the opportunity to work on set with this SF/Denver production company and it was a great experience. Here are a few pictures from the shoot up at napa for Foster’s.
How do you shoot skating on that thing?
•June 9, 2010 • Leave a CommentI just recently bought a Canon 7D and I couldn’t be happier. This camera is amazing. But I had one problem. I’ve been asked to shoot a short promo for Deluxe distribution and the 7D doesn’t have a handle to shoot with. That means that I would have to hold the body of my camera whale following on a skateboard. No Thanks! So after scouring the web for a good handle I found Jag35. Jag35 make affordable cinema tools for aspiring filmmakers. So that means you don’t have to sell your first born to get hooked up. Take a look at my new rig!
Location Scout #2
•June 9, 2010 • Leave a CommentSo I Drove around all day yesterday to find some cool abandoned buildings to shoot a commercial at. First I headed to Byron Ca to find an abandoned historic hotel. We drove around for about an hour before giving in and asking for directions. Apparently, the folks in Byron don’t like city slickers (see a movie staring Billy Crystal) poking around there little ugly town. Needless to say, we never found it. So on to the next location, a old slaughterhouse in the boonies of Antioch. After buying a map of the area we pinpointed the location. The only problem is that they closed down the road and the slaughterhouse can only be accessed by foot. So I started walking. About a mile down the road I still hadn’t seen it, so I decided that no production would be willing to lug gear this far. So I turned around and headed home. On a lighter note, I did find this cool place.
